The Ichiryu Associates Inc. and MCIB Partners Donate Grant for Forest Restoration Program in Giam Siak Kecil Bukit Batu, Riau

(19/6/2020) In June 2020, the Ichiryu Associates Inc. and MCIB Partners have donated a grant of JPY 100,000 each to support the peatland forest restoration program in the Giam Siak Kecil Bukit Batu work area that are conducted by the Belantara Foundation.

The forest restoration program is part of collaboration between Belantara Foundation and APP Sinarmas Japan Branch regarding special program called the “Forest Restoration Program, SDGs Together”. This program aims to restore a degraded peatland forest into a healthy and functional forest.

The Forest Restoration Program, SDGs Together is our contribution to conserve degraded peatland forest in Giam Siak Kecil Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve. The program includes tree planting and conserving rare trees species as well as native plants in peatland ecosystem.

The donation given by the Ichiryu Associates Inc. and MCIB Partners will be used to restore degraded forest at Giam Siak Kecil Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve which has been started since August 2020. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Belantara Foundation hopes to continue paying attention to protection and conservation efforts in Indonesia. Given the fact that the impact of climate crisis will get worse in the next few years if we stop moving at this time.

We are thankful for the Ichiryu Associates Inc. and MCIB Partners for their donation to Belantara Foundation. As a token of appreciation, we presented a letter of appreciation for the Ichiryu Associates Inc. and MCIB Partners that are given through Mr. Tan Ui Sian, as Chairman of APP Sinarmas Japan Branch.
