Jatna Supriatna

Jatna Supriatna serves as the chairman of the Research Center for Climate Change at the University of Indonesia (RCCC UI), where he works closely with the research community on climate change problems at a national and international level. Mr. Jatna is also the CEO of the non-profit organisation, United in Diversity Forum (YUID), a group that contributes to a united and peaceful Indonesia, encouraging synergy amongst the diverse constituents of Indonesia’s society and the international community.

Mr. Jatna is the author of numerous books and articles and was recognised in 2012 when elected a member of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI). In his role at the University of Indonesia, he teaches a number of courses related to conservation and biology and overseas the work of students in the doctoral and master programs.

Previously, Mr. Jatna had several government assignments: he was a member of the National Research Council (Dewan Riset Nasional) from 1999 to 2004; the chairman of the Biodiversity Taskforce at the Ministry of Research and Technology from 2001 to 2003; and was a member of the taskforce to review logging concessions from 2003 to 2005. He also participated in negotiations as a member of the Indonesian Delegation at the UN Forest Forum in New York in 2014 and the REDD+ climate change negotiations.

Mr. Jatna was also the first Indonesian to head up a conservation program for a major international organisation in his role as vice president of Conservation International.
