Water For All, Celebrating World Water Day
Water is one of the essential elements that exist on our Earth. Therefore water cannot be separated from living things and holds a crucial role. It maintains the survival of living things. Without water, all beings in the world cannot survive.
However, we cannot deny that there are still many people, especially in remote areas who cannot access or do not even have clean water. Thus in carrying out their daily cleaning activities such as; bathing, washing, making drinking water, etc. still use water that is not suitable for consumption. Also, the lack of knowledge concerning clean water is one of the critical factors in creating a lack of public awareness of health and environmental hygiene.
On April 22, 2019, to commemorate World Water Day, the Office of UNESCO Jakarta, the Global Compact Network Indonesia (IGCN), and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of University of Indonesia jointly held seminars and public lectures with the theme World Water Day 2019 is 'Leaving no one behind', an adaptation of the main promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development target No.6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all).
The event, which was attended by experts, stakeholders, universities, and development partners, aimed to discuss the handling of the water crisis and highlight the importance of water and solutions for public mobilization towards sustainable implementation to reach the SDGs target No. 6. In addition, this event was held to showcase the achievements and charter of cooperation between UNESCO Jakarta and IGCN in relation to SDGs No.6 throughout Indonesia.
This seminar presented various views on "Water for all" by the speakers. Various opinions from different perspectives as well as experiences in fulfilling clean water needs, how to treat the water, and the method applied was conveyed to the participants.

The event also launched the World Water Development Report (WWDR) 2019: Leaving No One Behind, which is an annual report focusing on various strategic water issues that aim to provide tools to implement sustainable use of water-related programs.
At the end of the event, the launch of a water campaign called "Biopore Program for Public Facilities" was displayed, an initiative developed and implemented by IGCN and its networks.
