Belantara Foundation Present at the 2nd Conservancy Talk of the Conservation and Environmental Cluster (KLHK Cluster) to Participate in Efforts to Preserve the Environment As Today’s Lifestyle

Jakarta (08/27/2019) — Belantara Foundation Present at the 2nd Conservancy Talk of The Conservation and Environmental Cluster (KLHK cluster) to participate in Efforts to Preserve the Environment as Today's Lifestyle

Belantara Foundation attended the 2nd Conservancy Talk of the Indonesian Philanthropy's Conservation and Environmental Cluster (KLHK cluster) held by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation at Perumahan Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi (Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi Housing).

Attended by eight representatives from every KLHK cluster member, with the theme "Conservation of the Environment as Today's Lifestyle," the 2nd Conservancy Talk discussed on how to preserve the environment according to the current period/generation (Millennials).

As a speaker at the event, Mr. Johnny —a representative from the Tzu Chi Foundation, and Mr. Andre from the Greeneration Foundation presented their thoughts, ideas, and also their healthy lifestyle habits to contribute in protecting and preserving the environment.

In the discussion session, we all agreed that separating waste by its type is the most appropriate and easiest thing that can be done by responsible individuals to help the environment.

Besides the discussion, the 2nd Conservancy Talk also held a field trip to the Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi Housing. We were invited to get to know the environment of the Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi School by visiting the Tzu Chi recycling depot and then the pilothouse for the houses in the Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi Housing, and the condition of Tzu Chi Hospital.

When we were invited to lunch, we observed something interesting. We learned that the residents of the Tzu Chi Foundation were required to wash their dirty dishes after lunch and separate their food waste according to the type of waste. The food waste will later be collected and processed into compost, and the plastic waste or used plastic beverages will be first washed before being all collected into one large tub.

In the end, all KLHK cluster members had the opportunity to stroll around the Tzu Chi Foundation buildings, especially visit the Tzu Chi Foundation history and activity museum. The members also visited the replicated garden of Master Cheng Yen's first residence. Master Cheng Yen is the founder of the Tzu Chi Foundation and came from Taiwan.

The cluster members were then directed to the available souvenir store, which sold clothes and bags from recycled plastic bottles. After this, they were welcomed to go home.
